Academics
The After School program at The Village School provides working parents with a safe and nurturing environment for their children between the hours of 3:00PM to 5:30PM, Monday through Friday during the school year.
Participating children have a variety of indoor and outdoor activities, including homework encouragement and support. Some favorite outdoor activities have been various ball games, investigating our vernal pool and sledding during the winter. Favorite indoor activities have been various craft projects including Perler Beads and making fairies. Most recently extra help with knitting has been provided to students who are in the 1st through 6th grades.
During the best of weather, the entire afternoon may be held outside giving everyone lots of fresh air and an alternative environment to the classroom setting.
Students eat snack, which they bring in their lunch box, preferably fruit, yogurt, or a half sandwich.
There are always two staff members present when there are more than four children present.
After School Sign Up: The old system of After School Sign Up still works- you can call the office, or sign in just inside the office -but now, in addition- you can also sign up for After School or change your sign up by emailing Lynn at:

This summer’s music lessons for Village School students were a lot of fun, with over two dozen students participating in guitar, flute, recorder and singing classes. Parents were a huge support, transporting children to and from lessons and juggling schedules to make summer music lessons possible.
To continue this momentum into the fall, Jocelyn is offering music lessons and ensembles at the Village School, after school on Mondays and Tuesdays this year. This is also a great way for new students to ‘catch up’ on recorder, and for any student to pick up a new instrument. Jocelyn is teaching flute, recorder and guitar.
Monday schedule:
3:15-3:30 Drop-in private recorder lesson (speak to Jocelyn at least a day in advance)
3:30-4:00 Beginner-intermediate level guitar group for ages 11 & up
4:00-4:30 Private lessons by appointment
Tuesday schedule:
3:15-3:45 Drop-in private recorder lesson (speak to Jocelyn at least a day in advance)
3:45-4:15 Beginner-intermediate level flute group/lesson for ages 10 & up
4:15-5:00 Private lessons by appointment
A monthly recorder ensemble for intermediate-advanced students ages 10 & up will also be offered in Hubbardston. Village School students and alumni and Chicken Coop students are welcome to join this group.
Cost:
All group lessons & ensembles $10
½ hour private lessons: $16
